Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Eleanor J. Rector was born on January 22, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Marion and Elnora Rector. Eleanor was a proud “Westside” daughter whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and grace. She walked this earth with quiet strength and unwavering love, leaving a mark that time cannot erase. On March 31, 2026, heaven welcomed home a beautiful soul. With grace and dignity, Eleanor J. Brown transitioned from this life into eternal rest at the age of 84.

In 1968, she joined in love and covenant with her husband, LeRoy Brown. Their union was a sacred bond, spanning 32 years of shared life, laughter, and devotion. As a military wife, she stood strong beside him throughout his service in the United States Air Force, embracing each chapter, including their time in Germany, with grace and resilience.

A faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Eleanor served over 47 years with a joyful heart, including as choir president. Her faith guided her life, and through her kindness, encouragement, and service, she touched and uplifted countless lives. A faithful servant of God, Eleanor devoted her life to her church home, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she lifted voices and hearts as choir president. Her praise was not only heard in song, but seen in the way she loved, encouraged, and poured into others. Her faith was her anchor, and her life was her testimony.

She dedicated 40 years of service as a President’s Club Representative with Avon, exemplifying excellence, commitment, and grace throughout her career. Eleanor was admired for her radiant spirit, timeless beauty, and warm, welcoming smile. She had a special gift for making others feel seen, cared for, and valued. Eleanor found joy in the rhythm of life. She danced. She sang. She created beauty with her hands as a ceramic artist. She played, she laughed, she competed, and she won— whether on the softball field or in the bowling lane. Her favorite color, purple, mirrored her spirit—royal, vibrant, and full of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Elnora Rector; her first grandson, Gregory Jackson II; and her beloved husband, LeRoy Brown, who now welcomes her in eternal peace.

She leaves behind a living legacy of love through her children: Bridgette (Gregory) Jackson, Natalie Brown, DeAnna (James) Brown, Doretha Hill, and Roger Mimms; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Marion Hall, Nettie Mae McFarland, Eugene Rector, Roger Rector (Mable), Lewis “LA” Rector, Anthony Rector, and Lenoris Carpenter; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She now rests in eternal peace, wrapped in divine love, crowned in glory, and forever held in the presence of the Lord. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience, and her presence will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
