Dorrell Shajuan Godley was born on July 25, 1989 in Corpus Christ, Texas. At an early age, he was christened at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Beeville, Texas. His schooling began at R.A. Hall Elementary School in Beeville. The family relocated to San Antonio, Texas where he attended John Jay High School and later graduated from George Gervin Technology Academy in 2007.

After attending high school, he followed in the footsteps of his Grandfather CPL David Godley and Uncle SFC(R) Keith Godley, by joining the United States Army.

Upon deployment, Dorrell fought on foreign soil, along-side his twin brother, David, on behalf of his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This brave young man wore the uniform with pride, honor, and resiliency.

In 2011, Dorrell decided to further his education by attending Kaplan College completing his studies to become a Registered Dental Assistant. While there he met the love of his life, Patricia “Twitda” Broughton. Dorrell and Patricia were joined in holy matrimony on November 8, 2014. His dental career began at The Smile Centers which eventually led him to Canyon Springs Family Dental, where he worked passionately beside his wife for the last 5 years.

During Dorrell’s spare time, he loved and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and two dogs, the “Two Beast”, Leonidas and Athena. He also enjoyed sport shooting at the gun range.

On July 19, 2020, Dorrell entered enteral rest. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, CPL David and Versa Godley of Beeville, Texas, his fraternal grandparents, Rev. H.L and Ivory Foster of San Marcos, Texas, his biological father, Fulton L. Hardeman, and a nephew King G. La Glish.

Left to honor his life and cherish his memories are his devoted wife Patricia “Twitda” Godley, 1-year old daughter Dasia, and an unborn child. Mother and Father, Genelle and David McClatchy, siblings, David “Twin” Godley (Brittany), Darneta Coats, uncle Keith Godley (Doretha), and aunt Gennethel Pennick (Herbert). Also, nieces and nephews Nevaeh Anguiano, David Godley, Neriah Godley, Zoey Conde, Exodus La Glish, and Osiris La Glish. Several cousin-likebrothers, Keith Godley Jr., D’Angelo Taylor, Justin Mason, Brenton Weeden, and Andrew Graves. There are also numerous cousins, extended family, in-laws, and friends who cherish his memory. As Christians, we know as the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:8 (ESV), "Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord." A Christian and soldier, Dorrell Godley, is now at home with the Lord.

Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the funeral service and interment will be private.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My little cousin Dorrell, my memories consist of always seeing him with his twin brother David. I loved their relationship because even as adults they had the same kind of jobs, and loved alot of things the same, but yet they still had their own Individuality. Most of our time together, was family gatherings. I got to see him grow up and be such a successful young man, married with children. I’m going to miss him much. I love you Dorrell, until we meet again❤ Sincerely, your cousin Siretha Brown
