Derrick K. Bonner, 63 of San Antonio Texas passed away on August 31 at Santa Rosa Christus Hospital Westover Hills.
He was raised in Norfolk Virginia where he attended Dozier Middle School and Booker T. High School before enlisting into the United States Army as a Medical Logistics Specialist in association with the 147th MedLog Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division and 32nd MedLog Battalion with numerous Awards, Medals and Citations before Retiring at BAMC in San Antonio Texas after 22 Years of Dedicated Service.
Derrick loved Family and explaining the facts about History, he also enjoyed motivating and enlightening everyone who embarked upon his journey. Derrick Kelvin made it a point to bring much laughter to ALL.
He leaves to cherish in his loving memory Gina: Wife of 15 Glorious Years. 3 Brothers: Keith (Coleen) VA, Kenneth (Gayle) VA, Mackey Jr (Silvia) OH 1 Sister: Marjorie Abbott GA, 4 Sons: Derrick D.Bonner, VA,Antonio Bonner, VA & Reynard Ealy (Arlene)VA & Robert Bonner CA,. & His adopted son David Awanda DC, And a Host of Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousin, Aunties, Extended Family and Friends & Military Family.
As Derrick is entering into God's Kingdom he is preceded in death by his Loving Parents Mackey Sr.& Pauline Bonner and his babygirl Jesseka Douglas-Mcbride

May my son in law Derrick rest in peace and Paradise. Was mine for awhile which I love him for who he was. Derrick was very humble , hilarious , generous.. Always knew something about everything. Very knowledgeable.. fought a long battle with his illness that my daughter help prolonged his life with happiness.. Was the kind husband that took care of my beautiful daughter Gina and granddaughter Jesseka(RIP). Always a helping hand the strangers…Truly will be missed and I love him… That is why I called him “My Superman Son”. He always laughed…..

Derrick was truly one of a kind. He always had a story and always made me laugh. He will be greatly missed. RIP Derrick. We will see you on the other sideâ¤ï¸
