Denise Eileen Lomax-Wauls (AKA Nene) was born on November 21, 1953 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to the union of Charles Louis Malvester Wauls and Margaret Louise Williams. Denise accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Kenwood.
She attended Mark Twain Junior High, graduated Thomas Edison High School in 1971. She continued her studies at the University of the Incarnate Word.
We all know her greatest gift in life was her need to help anyone and everyone she came into contact with.
Denise was married twice. A very short union to Henry Campbell, then in 1978, married Gilbert F. Lomax, Jr. bearing two eldest children: Destiny Delena Lomax and Donji Lomax. Later in life, after divorce, she conceived her third child, Dijon Marcel Wauls. In Kenwood, she raised and reared a neighborhood of children.
For many years, she worked on Ft. Sam Army Base in the hospitality field. 43 years of dedicated service: first, at the Guest House and ending her career at BAMC Fisher House with her beloved military families.
On March 18, 2021, the Lord called on his beloved angel home.
She leaves behind 3 children: Destiny Delena Lomax, Donji D’Angelo Lomax and Dijon Marcel Wauls; 5 grandchildren: Onaya E. Lomax-Araguz, Diallo S. Lomax-Araguz, Keandre Davis-Lomax, Aja Rose Davis-Lomax, and Jordan D’Angelo Garza-Wauls; 2 great-grandchildren: Olyena Montenegro and Arayah Montenegro. 2 siblings: sister, Marcella Touchstone Stanley and brother, Lawrence Williams. What can you say about a favorite Williams Family Cousin. Growing up with Lawrence, Denise and Wee Poo was one of the best journey’s of my life. Denise is almost two years older than me and was like an older sister. Out family times together we’re out on hold when we moved to Waco. But, I am so grateful that we reconnected at Billy’s Saturday before Memorial Day Family Gathetings… the Harper’s, Williams, Olivetr’s, Paige’s, Wauls, Lomax’s, snd friends would experience fun, food, and fellowship!
I missed teenage, young adult, snd most of our adult years with you… but we both knew you were one of my favorite cousins. I will forever cherish our memories.
My condolences are extended to my family. I love you all and look forward to our times together in future years.
Sorrowfully,
Loretta Hartfield Oliver
