Mrs. Debra Eaton was born on May 23, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, and entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2025, at the age of 70.
A woman of unwavering faith, strength, and dedication, Mrs. Eaton lived a life of service to both her country and her community. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army Reserves, and retired from the United States Army after 28 years of honorable and distinguished service. During her military career, she served with the U.S. Army Medical Command at home and abroad, and later continued her service on the Honor Guard at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for nearly five years—honoring fellow service members with dignity and respect.
Beyond her military career, Mrs. Eaton pursued education and professional growth. She obtained her real estate license and worked as a realtor, continuing to serve others through her knowledge and dedication. She also served her local community as a member of the Judson School Board.
Her love for fellowship and service extended into many organizations. She was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., the Order of the Eastern Star, and was an active and devoted member of Liberty Grace Church, where she served faithfully as a Deaconess.
Family was the joy of Mrs. Eaton’s life. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Marshelle Barkster, and son-in-law, Michael Barkster; six treasured grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Nana”; her brothers, Tommy Hanner and Al Hanner (Anita); her sister, Oralee Wells; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Mrs. Debra Eaton will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; a woman of faith and service; and a proud veteran who lived her life with honor, courage, and love.
Sweet Debra….you will be greatly missed. You tender heart and smile would light up a room.
Thank you for your service in the military and volunteering in the community. You were loved by many and respected as well. RIP dear friend and know that we will see you again.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve with Debra eight years as a Trustee on the Judson ISD School Board. She was so happy to serve her community and give back to the students at each of the schools she represented. I miss you and our long telephone conversations. Thank you for your military service of which you were also proud to serve. Rest well my friend.
