DAVID JOHNSON III

September 14, 1967 ~ January 18, 2025

David Johnson III was born to David Johnson and Joyce Roberts Cantu on 14 September 1967 in San Antonio, TX. He was baptized in Jesus Name and received the HOLY Ghost at an early age.

He graduated from High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1982. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1986 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1991 with Physical Disability. He was awarded with the National Defense Service Medal, Certificate of Appreciation, Meritorious Unit Citation. He participated in Operation Desert Storm from 910311 – 910534. He completed the Basic Security Officer Training Course at San Antonio College in 1991.

He is a member of the American Poetry Association, and the World of Poetry Organization. He was given Honorable Mentions in 1985, 1988, and 1989, along with three Golden Poet Award Trophies. Also, he has written poetry just to be an inspiration to others. He is a former student of Chaminade University of Honolulu in Hawaii where he spent a dynamic three years. He is famously known as Dave the Picture Man.

David is survived by his mother, Joyce Cantu, Stepfather, Moses Cantu, Brothers, Timothy A. Cantu and Frank Johnson; grandfather Foster Roberts; Aunt Melba Curtis; Uncle Gregory Curtis; Aunt Portia Kelley and Uncle Ben Kelley; a host of cousins relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father David Johnson Jr., Stepmother Laura Johnson, brother Christopher Johnson and Grandmother Leatrice Roberts.
