CHARLIE "RED" LEON JACKSON

March 1, 1942 ~ October 16, 2024

Charlie Leon Jackson was born March 1, 1942, in Columbus, Texas to parents Charlie and Carrie Johnson Jackson. He was the third and youngest son born to this Union.  He was soon joined by additional brothers and a sister after his mother’s marriage to R. L Ellis Sr.

Charlie graduated from Wheatly High School in 1960. He later joined the United States Army in 1964 and after achieving an honorable discharge, attended St. Philips College in San Antonio, Texas.

In 1967, he married Cecilia Boales and to this union four children were born.

Charlie dedicated many of his working years at Gaylord Container, retiring after 32 years. Later, he was employed by the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center. Finally retiring, Charlie enjoyed spending his last years surrounded by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and brothers R.L Ellis Jr., Ken Ellis, Donna (Don) Ellis, Claude (Billy) Jackson and Elmo (Riley) Jackson.

 Charlie Jackson is survived by his wife Cecilia, his sons Douglas Jackson (Veda), Kevin Jackson (Alana), his daughters Lisa (Kevin) Jackson-Miles and Tracie (Anthony) Jackson-Gathers. In addition, his grandson Kailel Rohlsen Jackson and granddaughter Charly Jackson.  He is also survived by his brothers Steven Ellis, Henry (Ross) Ellis, Anthony Jackson, Ralph Williams, sister, Kathy Ellis Morrow and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
