Charles Clarence Benson, Sr. crossed over on February 27, 2022, at the age of 76 at home. Charles was born to Jerome and Amanda Benson of Boerne, TX on December 28,1945. He graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1965, where he played football. Charles went on to join the United States Army for three years. After serving in the military, he returned to San Antonio and attended St. Phillips College to earn a welding certification. He was employed at Turbine Support as a welder working on airplane parts for twenty years. Charles then went on to work and retire from San Antonio Independent School District after 17 years in the plant service department. Charles also known as “Charlie or Red Rooster” was a humble man and likable person. His past times were fishing in Port Aransas, hunting deer, playing pool, barbequing, cooking, and dancing to the Blues.
He was proceeded in death by his Father Jerome Benson, mother Amanda Aguilar, brothers: Jerome Jr, David, & Mark, sisters: Georgia Ann, Geraldine & Dorothy. He leaves his wife of forty-four years Alice G. Benson, son Charles C. Benson II, daughters: Michelle Moffett, Renee Benson, Char Yates(Vincent) & Stacy Dillard. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Along with sisters Jackie, Jeannetta(Marvin), Lydia, Carrie, brothers Ronnie, Kenneth(Angela), Martin & Michael(Joan) Benson, sister in-laws, brother in-laws, daughter in-law Elyse, & son in-laws.
