Carol Faye Myart Chambers passed away suddenly at her home on March 5, 2022.
Carol was born to Rev. James W. Myart, Sr. and Inez Estelle Myart in San Antonio, Texas on March 29, 1949. She grew up with four siblings: Brenda, Harold (twin), James, Janet, and her first cousin, Otto.
Carol attended Tynan Elementary School, Emerson Middle School, and Brackenridge High School where she graduated in the class of 1967. Shortly after graduation, while working at Fort Sam Houston, Carol met Eugene M. Chambers, Jr., and they were married on April 23, 1968. Carol and Gene had three children (Alleia, Manuel, and Eugene “Gino” III). After 12 years of marriage, Carol and Gene divorced in 1980.
Carol stayed home to care for her young children before deciding to return to college to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in 1978. Carol’s passion and calling was teaching. She dedicated 28 years to serving students and families of San Antonio ISD before retiring in 2006. A life-long teacher, Carol continued to teach for the churches she served. Carol was a faithful and dedicated Christian who served in women’s ministries, children’s ministries, and education ministries at Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Greater Tree Mount Temple Church, and Emmanuel AME Church during her lifetime. She became a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 2005.
Carol F. Chambers leaves to cherish her memories, her children Alleia L. Chambers-Hobbs, Manuel L. Chambers (Arica), and Eugene M. Chambers, III; grandchildren Alexis Carol Williams, Ginea’ Monique Chambers, Jeremiah Immanuel Chambers, Amber Wydermyer, and Joshua Wydermyer; great-granddaughter Zariah Reenae McKay; siblings Harold R. Myart (Emma), James W. Myart, Jr., Janet Prince, and Laverne Burdett; close cousin Otto M. Thompson-Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, Delta sisters, and close friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Rev. James W. Myart, Sr. and Inez Estelle Myart; her sisters Brenda Estelle Robinson and Curly Daniels.
Viewing will be held at Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 122 Aurelia St., in San Antonio, TX on Friday, March 18th from 4-7 pm with Delta Omega Omega service from 6-7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at True Vision Church located at 2826 Ackerman Rd., San Antonio, TX on Saturday, March 19th at 12:00 noon.
