Carol Deloris Ward, a retired nurse and jazz/gospel vocalist departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the age of 75.

Daughter of the late Charlie Ward and Lorene Burton Ross; mother of jazz violinist, Michael Ward (Lenzie); sister of Charles Ward, the late Ralph and Jimmy Ward, William “Bill” Ward, Loretta, Toni and A. Michael Ross. She is survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the funeral service will be private followed by a memorial at a later date. The family would like to express thanks to Carol’s beloved brother, A. Michael Ross and the doctors and staff of Trinity Hospice.

  1. A wonderful sister who was great to talk to and share family memories. Carol was always warm, honest and sincere. A tremendous and talented singer with a voice that often brought out tears of joy to all of us. I will miss you my sister and will carry your memories with me forever.

  2. I remember when Ms. Ward and Mr. Ardis Turner tore the stage down singing at the blues at The Studio club in San Antonio. Thank you Ms. Ward for those moments. Rest in Heaven.

While working as a nurses aid in college I had the honor of meeting Ms. Ward, who was the nurse at the facility.  She would walk down the halls singing and offering her words of wisdom.  Always providing words of encouragement to me to stay in college and complete my degree; she was in deed one of my cheerleaders along the way.  To her family; you are in my prayers.  God Bless   Tanya Wilborn

  6. My condolences goes out to the family. Carol was one of the greatest nurse at the Willows she cared for 104 clients on the 11-7 shift. She sing so beautiful she would come in office and share her son success with me. I have a lots of good beautiful memories they will live forever. RIP my friend ❤️
