The history and life works of Carnell Tate, Jr. began to be written on September 18, 1957. The final chapter and last page was written on Saturday, April 20, 2019
Carnell Tate, Jr. was born the second child to the late Carnell Tate, Sr. and Gussie Tate, in San Antonio, Texas. Carnell began his Christian life at an early age and was Baptized at New Light Baptist Church. He later joined St. Stevens Baptist church.
History records that he was educated primarily in the public schools of San Antonio, Texas where he attended Sam Houston High School
Carnell was known and had a passion for driving trucks and when he would pull up you would see a little thin man, with cowboy boots, tight pants and a cowboy hat on and wonder how he was driving this big eighteen-wheeler? Believe it or not, he could turn it around on a dime.
He was a loving, devoted father and friend. Very kind hearted, giving, sometimes too giving, outgoing, crazy, always smiling, always open to having a conversation with him. Willing to listen and did so with admiration and patience. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Carnell is survived by his only loving daughter Tasha and her husband Richard B. Johnson. Siblings Charlotte Franklin, Carl Tate and sister in law Pam, Christine and brother in law Anthony Johnson, whom all reside in San Antonio, Texas. Nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends.

Dear Family:
Please accept my heartfelt condolences in the loss of your dear loved one. Please find comfort in the scripture at Isaiah 26:19, where it says, “Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully in the dust! For your dew is as the dew in the morning, and the earth will let those powerless in death come to life.” What a powerful promise for the future!Â
My condolences to the family’s .
My prayers and condolences to the family. I was a classmate of Christine, and and knew Carl. I would often see Carnell. He was a very handsome young man, who always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.
My prayers to the family. May God lift you up and surround you with comfort and peace during this time. Charlotte, Carl and Christine may you find strength thru our Lord and Savior and with each other. Love you,
Sylvia (Coleman) Cook
