On July 1, 1958, Betty Jean Finnell was born to Steve and Florine Finnell in Kirbyville, Texas.
In 1976, she graduated from Herbert High School and attended Lamar University where she later attained a Nursing Degree specializing in Neonatology.
On June 12, 1976, she married Kenneth Guiy. To their union, was born Kenneth Guiy, Jr.
In 1988, they relocated to San Antonio Texas and, once there, she joined the Church of the Living God (COLG) family and served there for many years.
In 1997, she became the First Lady when Kenneth Guiy began his ministry with the COLG.
In the early 2000s, she accepted her calling to the ministry where she and Elder Guiy continued to serve, mentor, and spread the word of God.
After Elder Guiy’s homegoing, she and the COLG family made the decision to dissolve the church.
In 2025, she joined True Vision Church where she served faithfully until God called her home on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Betty was well known for being firm and strong-willed, but equally known as a loving, gentle, and kindhearted woman that would do anything and everything in her power to help who she could.
She leaves behind her: Kenneth R Guiy, Jr.; Granddaughters: Laila, Maddison & Harmonie; God children Bryan R. Finnell (Celinda), Latresa Piert (James Trail), Charles Adams, Sherry Thomas and Darrian I. Q. Cannon; Siblings Rose Bryant of San Antonio, Texas, Paul Finnell (Annie), Clint “Kent” Finnell, & Norma “Peg” Robinson; Sister-in-Laws Martha Fontenot (Glendale) & Vickie Trimble of Beaumont, Texas. Brother-in-Laws Frank Guy of California, Curley Landry of Beaumont, Texas. She has many nieces and nephews, friends and extended family, the Bedford’s.

i thank you for all the time we’ve spent together. i thank you for the smile you put in my face every time i saw you. you are missed so much every day and even though i know you had to go, it’s still hard to let go
We spend so much time together this past year and a half. We love, laughed, cried & prayed together. Gonna miss you so much & our Saturday lunch dates you telling me about Uncle, remembering and laughing about things he had said or done. You fought long and now you can rest peacefully. My Sister not by blood but by choice. I miss you already. We had may good laughs together, especially when people would get us mixed up. I love you and I know you are at peace now. I will always remember the good times we had as Sisters and know you are in a better place. You were the best! I thank God for the time we had together.
