BAYLEN RASHAWN MARTIN

December 12, 1996 ~ April 20, 2025

Baylen Martin, 28, passed away on April 20, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 12, 1996, in Lexington, Kentucky, the oldest son of Lamont Martin and Monica Jones. He graduated from Waukee High School in Waukee, IA followed by earning an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Dental Hygiene from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Baylen then furthered his education in dentistry as a dental apprentice in the pursuit of completing his Dental Degree because his goal was to become a dental surgeon.

Curious and creative from a young age, Baylen never lost this sense of wonder. He brought light and energy to the spaces he entered and was known for his impeccable sense of style, love for fashion, and his natural flair to turn everyday moments into expressions of creativity. Baylen’s charisma was undeniable and he seemed to make friends wherever he went. Social by nature, he cherished time spent with family and friends and thrived in the company of others. He left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know him. On March 4th, Baylen made a personal commitment to God and gave his life to Christ. He was extremely excited about his decision and was diligently pursuing a personal relationship with God. He planned on being baptized on April 13th and immediately purchased a special robe for his baptism. Although he was hospitalized before that date, today he is wearing his new robe and is clothed in God’s mercy and love forever.

Above all else, Baylen loved his family deeply and held those bonds close to his heart. He is lovingly remembered by his mother Monica Jones (David); father Lamont Martin (Amber); brothers Tyler Martin (Savannah), Brayden Martin, and Jaden Martin; sister Maaliyah Martin; grandfather Stephen Jones; grandmother Deneese Jones; aunts Stephanie Roberts (Stephen), LaToya Martin, Stacey Martin, and Rosalind Martin; uncle Tracy Martin; first cousins Nathaniel Roberts, Jah Tay Hicks, Messiah Martin, and TaDarrius Martin niece Millie Martin, and a host of great-uncles, great-aunts, and cousins.

Baylen was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lila S. Hersey, great grandfathers, Ben Robinson and N.E. Jones and great grandmothers, Theresa Robinson and Mattie Jones.

May Baylen’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspire love and authenticity in the lives he touched.

  4. My dearest cousin Baylen, life will not be the same without you and I know you’re in Heaven walking streets of gold. You made it!! I’m striving everyday because I am Heaven bound. You are there with our family members who were waiting for your arrival. I didn’t get to be around you or your Mom growing up. We have all lived in different states apart but I loved and enjoyed single time when my uncle Steve and Aunt Deneese, Monica, & Stephanie would stop by and visit every chance they’d get when they were in Texas. I’m so grateful to God for allowing us to bond in San Antonio for your grandparents wedding renewal Anniversary. You were always smiling with your beautiful white smile and I would tease you you about being immaculate, cleaning and wiping everything making sure it was sanitized, even though it was clean
I told you I was the same way and I shared how Mighty my oldest brother is always teasing me by saying “it’s not going to get any cleaner come sit down and eat LOL. I get it cousin. I was so excited to finally spend some time getting to actually know you and Tyler as you both are grown handsome young men now. Very respectful with a great sense of humor. We joked and laughed in the kitchen. I will never forget those fond memories. You are already missed and loved.

Family I am praying with you

I will join the senior group in planing a tree so I can see it grow

  9. It’s with sadness that we hear of Baylen’s death. We met him recently when he came to Sunday School and Church with his grandparent. Not knowing that he would be leaving us so soon, but we cherish the conversations we had with him because he had such a pleasant personality. We want to express our deepest sympathy to the family at this time of grief, and may you find comfort in knowing that friends and loved ones share in your loss. May the Lord’s hand of compassion and love and His light from above shined down upon you and give you strength doing your time of bereavement.

  10. Always with a smile no matter what was going on. The biggest heart for his friends and loved ones. His world…..his family. I’ll never forget how you took Raevyn under your wing and nurtured her into the step coach she is now. You would be so proud. We love you and are going to miss that sweet smile❤️
