ANNIE J. FEATHERSTONE

Annie J. Featherstone died January 14, 2021 at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, Tx.

Annie was born October 20, 1926 in Asheville, North Carolina to her late parents Forest and Anna Featherstone. She graduated from Stephens Lee High School, class of 1944.

Upon graduation she moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the War Department and the Navy Yard. In 1951, Annie joined the U.S. Army where she proudly served until her retirement in 1971 at the rank of E-7 (SFC). Annie then worked at the U.S. Postal Service till her second retirement in 1991.

She was a long-time member of the National Association of Black Military Women, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Besides being an avid reader, she loved socializing, solving puzzles, fishing, camping and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Summey Featherstone, Albert Featherstone, Helen Bell, Dorothy Gaffney, Kathleen Williams, Louise Martin, and Mary Gordon.

 She is survived by her sister-in-law, Marjorie (Albert) Featherstone, special friend Shirley Boone and numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.

For the last four years of her life, Annie was a happy resident of Adante’s Assisted-Living in San Antonio, Tx. She participated in many of Adante's comrnunity cultural and volunteer activities. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Adante Assisted-Living for their professional care and services.
