RUBY ADAMS

Ruby Lee was born in Taylor, TX on December 17, 1937 and later attended 1st and 2nd grades there. At the age of 8, she moved to Corpus Christi, TX where she attended grades 3 – 5. The family eventually moved to San Antonio, TX where she completed her high school education at Phyllis Wheatly High, Class of 1957. Ms. Ruby Adams attended St. Philip’s College and the newly integrated undergraduate Division of the University of Texas at Austin, TX. In 1962, Ruby relocated to Dallas, TX where she worked for Texas Instruments for six years and later she worked for the Dallas Postal Service (USPS) for almost 11 years. In 1979, Ms. Adams moved back home to San Antonio, TX, where she completed her degree requirements at Our Lady of the Lake University where she obtained a B.A. in Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology (conferred 12/14/1985) and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Psychology (conferred 8/12/1989). 

      Ms. Adams is the daughter of the late Henrietta Singleton-Griffin and the late Rev. Laval Singleton of San Antonio, TX, and the stepdaughter of the late Rev. Christopher Griffin of San Antonio, TX. Her son Rory (Roy) Laval Adams (October 25, 2023) preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters: Ava Kriss Lott (husband David Lott) (Mesquite, TX) and Karen Cecile Adams (San Antonio, TX). grandchildren: Twanna James (husband Edmond James) (Mississippi, USA), Jessica B. Adams (San Antonio, TX), Kerry J. Adams (wife Elisa Adams) (Houston, TX), Kristina A. Lott (Houston, TX) Dillon J. Adams (San Antonio, TX), Justin Lott (Mesquite, TX), Jonathan I. Lott (Mesquite, TX), Candace Lozano (San Antonio, TX), and Mario J. Adams (San Antonio, TX). Great-grandchildren: Jaylon K. Adams (San Antonio, TX), Landon B. James, Layla R. Adams, Lorenzo J. Adams, Londyn E. Adams. Great – great grandson: Jayden A. Adams. Also, granddaughters Quiana, Zhanesia & Anna James and a host of cousins and extended family.
