CEDRIC TAYLOR

August 11, 1963 ~ February 5, 2024

Cedric was born on August 11, 1963, in Tacoma Washington.

As a child of two military parents, he moved several times in his very early years. From the age of about six years old he was raised in San Antonio, Texas.

Cedric was baptized at the age of six years old at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas under the leadership of the late Rev. C.M Graham.

Cedric graduated from MacArthur High School in 1981. From 1981 – 1985 he attended Texas Tech University where he studied Communications and worked as an on-air radio personality at the school’s radio station.

After college, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served nearly ten years before he was honorably discharged for health reasons. During his service, he was deployed numerous times, served aboard the U.S. Nimitz and was deployed to the combat theater during the Persian Gulf War. It was during his Naval service when his greatest accomplishment and joy, his son Cedric Leonard Taylor was born.

After leaving the service, Cedric was never not working. One of his last positions was a Correctional Officer at Huntsville State Prison. Cedric was a Mason and to a lesser-known fact he was an avid life-long Star Trek fanatic. Even up to the time of his passing he belonged to an online Star Trek community and would receive updates and notifications of any new, planned, or rumored Star Trek projects.

During his final years, his health began to fade and his mobility grew more restrictive, but he attended church as best as he could. Although, his health continued to decline he remained upbeat, kindhearted, and was always laughing. Most importantly, he remained steadfast in his faith of God.

Cedric was preceded in death by his father Freddie C. Taylor Sr., and he leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Cedric Leonard Taylor of San Antonio; his mother Anne Taylor of San Antonio; his sister Laverne McMillian of Weimar, Texas; his brother Freddie C. Taylor Jr. (Jacqueline) of Baltimore, Maryland; his niece Anetra McMillian of Katy, Texas; his nephew Andre McMillian of Weimar, Texas; his niece Jasmine Taylor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his nephew Jayson Taylor of Houston, Texas and host of other family members, loved ones, and friends.
