Brenda J. McKinney was born on October 9, 1951, to Julius Wallace and Virginia Ruth McKinney. She peacefully entered eternal rest on June 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love.
Brenda was a devoted member of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for many years. Her church was the cornerstone of her life, and she found great joy in worshiping the Lord through song as a dedicated member of the church choir. Throughout her years of service, she held various positions within the church, always willing to lend a helping hand and support the ministry in any way she could. Her unwavering faith and commitment were an inspiration to all who knew her. Brenda’s favorite scripture is Psalm 27.
Brenda had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests that brought her happiness. She enjoyed cooking various meals and baking cakes for her family and church. Her favorite color was blue, a reflection of her calm and warm spirit. She enjoyed collecting memorabilia and treasured the stories and memories connected to each piece. A passionate sports fan, Brenda could often be found cheering on her beloved San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. She was also an active participant in softball and baseball, proudly playing as a member of the San Antonio Dolls and Eddie’s Angels.
Brenda enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially while playing board games and bingo. Her joyful spirit, laughter, and friendly nature made every gathering more special.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Julius Wallace, her grandparents and her siblings: Patricia Ann Lyles, Cindy Ruth McKinney, Jesse Lee McKinney, Roy Wallace, Reginald Wallace, Vincent Wilson, Christine Kindred, and Julius Wallace, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother Virginia Ruth McKinney; sisters, Juliette Washington (Frank), Ofelia Allen (Ricky), Julia Dorsey (Joseph), Cynthia Dale (James), Scott Lee McKinney, Barbara Morgan (Bobby) and Gwendolyn Wilson ; her best friend, Ruth Vega, who was devoted to helping her to the end. Her church family at Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church; her teammates and friends; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Brenda will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, servant’s spirit, and the love she shared so freely. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and fellowship, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

You have always been the most gracious woman of God who lead us all to church and Christ at an early age in our lives.
Oh, how we would laugh when you would bake your pound cake for the family gatherings they would sometimes be hard 😅 we would ask you what happened? and you’ll tell us you have to regulate your stove. 😂
You were always willing to help support the family and church during fundraiser for anniversaries or othe events.
