Billy Roy Nelson

Billy Roy Nelson, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and loyal friend, entered eternal rest on May 3, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born on July 28, 1935, in Belton to the late David and Amanda Nelson.

Billy was a proud graduate of Thomas Brackenridge High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and memories. Upon graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by entering the United States Air Force. Through dedication, discipline, and honor, he rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSgt) before retiring after many faithful years of service.

Billy was known for his warm spirit, quiet strength, and deep love for his family and friends. He treasured every opportunity to gather with loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom gained through a life well lived. His kindness and steadfast presence touched all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Lena Lee McKinnon; his sisters, Davey Jean Kirk “Molly” and Mittie Pearl Russell; his Aunt Vera Washington and Uncle Booker t. Washington.

He leaves behind cherished family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his love, guidance, and friendship. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of service, devotion, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
