Judy Carol Edwards of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 in her hometown surrounded by her family. Born on July 16, 1949 to Edgar and Adeline Carter, Judy was the eldest of nine siblings and grew up embodying the values of love, hard work, and
generosity that would define her life.

Judy’s faith was key to her life. A virtuous woman of God she inspired those around her with her unshakable belief in kindness and service. She was known for giving selflessly to others and served as a beloved mother figure to many beyond her immediate family. Her wisdom and
advice left a lasting legacy on countless lives.

In the 1990s Judy pursued her passion for helping others by studying nursing at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio. While attending school, she worked as a cook and cashier for over 15 years at the college. It was during this time that she met the love of her life Timothy Edwards
who worked as a professor at the college. Their connection blossomed into a beautiful partnership and together they shared 37 years of love and happiness. Judy and Timothy embraced a blended family with open hearts creating a home filled with warmth and joy. Judy and Timothy later combined their talents and dreams to open Pit Stop BBQ Plus a family restaurant that became a cherished staple in their community. Judy’s warm smile, positive attitude, and exceptional cooking made the restaurant a beloved gathering place. Operating the restaurant was one of Judy’s greatest passions, allowing her to share her love for food and hospitality with all who walked through its doors.

In addition to her church activities and running the family restaurant Judy had a talent for tax preparation services that she provided to family members and associates alike. She also discovered a passion for gardening early in life. With a green thumb and a nurturing spirit she
found immense joy in planting and tending to her numerous plants.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor, Judy was deeply loved by all who knew her. She leaves behind her husband Timothy Edwards three sons: Thomas Carter, Alan Carter, and Edgar Carter; one daughter: Antoinette Carter Lewis: son-in-law: Jarrod
L. Lewis: and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Judy was also an amazing, loving grandmother to her grandsons: James, Justin, Jonovan, Julian, Tommy, and Robert; and granddaughters: Mariah, Destiny, Jessica, Jannette, Ariana, Jaliyah, Adriana, and
Aniyah.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Adeline Carter: her daughter Bridgette: her sisters Carol and Margarette: and her brother Edgar Jr. Though the loss is deeply felt by those who loved her dearly, they take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them.

Judy will be remembered not only for her incredible work ethic but also for the love she poured into every role she held throughout her life. Her legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Rest in heavenly peace grandma we love you

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Judy was a remarkable presence in the lives of the Pickens Family, and her impact on us was profound. We cherished her deeply, and it was clear that she held a special love for us as well. My sister “Rosetta and Judy” shared a bond akin to that of sisters, filled with countless heartfelt conversations about the Bible and a mutual passion for discussing God, and family.

For about a year, Judy graciously cared for my daughter, offering her time and love with minimal financial expectation—a true blessing in our lives. She had a warm way of addressing my mother as “Dear,” a term of endearment that resonated with all of us. Whenever we reached out, she would open her restaurant just for us, embodying generosity and kindness.

As we reflect on our memories, we are reminded of Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” To the Carter Family, please know that we hold you all in our hearts with immense love. Let us continue to stay rooted in the word, and rest assured, we are keeping you all in our prayers. She will be missed by us all! Love … Love.

  2. Our deepest sympathies to the Edwards family . May God’s amazing grace continue to bless you all with healing . We will continue to lift you all in prayer. Mrs Edwards had a beautiful spirit she will be missed, .we fellowship with them many times at church.💔
