Irene Catherine Chase-Rodriguez, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born on June 6, 1936, in Palestine, Texas to the late Robert Olie and Mary Ella Chase, Irene lived a full life dedicated to her family and community. Having spent the majority of her life in San Antonio, Texas, Irene united in holy matrimony with Mr.

Louis “Lucky” Rodriguez on December 01, 1961. They were the parents of three daughters. She was a proud mother. She leaves behind many treasured memories; best known for her generosity, professional service in the cooking industry at South San Antonio Independent School District; she worked in the cafeteria at Dwight MS for over 30 years. Irene loved taking care of her plants and had an extreme fondness of music. She was the shrewd business owner of Lucky’s Dude Ranch.

Irene received her education from Illg Street Elementary School and Phillis Wheatley High School. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and attended regularly until her health prevented her from doing so.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by siblings Robert Olie Chase Jr., Leon Chase; son-in-law Jack H. Smith, as well as several other family members and friends.

Irene is survived by her three daughters, Earlene Smith, Ida and Sheila Rodriguez; her two grandchildren, Jacqueline R. Smith and Ashley M. Brown (Jeremy Porterie); four great-grandchildren, Arianna, Jason, Alana, and Aubrey. Also left to cherish her memory are siblings, Roosevelt Chase (Luella), Jean Rigby, and Jerlene Hubbard; nieces and nephews; as well as a host of loving relatives and friends.

Her warm presence and laughter will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

May She Rest In Peace. Forever Remembered…Forever Loved.
