MASUN THOMAS SAPP

April 8, 2001 ~ February 19, 2025

We proudly honor the life of Masun Thomas Sapp—born April 8, 2001, and taken from us far too soon on February 19, 2025. Though his time on this earth was short, Masun’s impact was nothing short of extraordinary. At just 23 years old, he lived a life full of promise, love, and with an enthusiasm for life that was contagious.

Masun was not just a son, a nephew, a cousin, or a friend—he was a force of positivity, always lighting up a room with his warm smile, kind heart, and infectious laughter. He was a son who made his mom, Whitney, and his dad, Thomas, incredibly proud every single day. He was the nephew, cousin, and friend who brought so much joy to his family, including his Great Uncle John and Great Aunts Callie and Jewel; his grandparents, Maga Willie and Pa paw Walter; his aunts, Parthenia, Belinda, Winnifred, Wrenee; and his uncles, Gerard, Walter Jr. and Gerald. He was close to his cousins—Anton, Michael, Jordan, Stephon, Jenna, Amber, Prince, Walter III, Cameron, Phyllis, Tameki, and Rory— He shared a special bond with Jordan, Amber, and Cameron. Their relationship was more like siblings, built on a foundation of love, laughter, and an unbreakable bond.

Masun was driven and full of ambition. As an honor student and a pre-dental major at the University of Texas at San Antonio, he set high goals for himself and worked tirelessly to achieve them. But beyond academics, Masun had a deep love for many things that made him uniquely him. He was a dedicated and disciplined karate brown belt, showing the same focus and determination he applied in all areas of his life. On top of that, he proudly played two years varsity football as a defensive end—proving his athleticism and team spirit and always giving his best.

Masun had an unshakable love for music, especially the history and evolution of Black music. He wasn’t just a fan—he was a student of it. His passion for music also led him to play the saxophone, where he found another avenue for creative expression. Whether he was delving into the rich history of music or playing an instrument with joy, Masun found a way to make every note count.

He wasn’t just talented in academics, music and sports; he also had an entrepreneurial spirit. Masun took his love for vintage clothing and turned it into an online business, showing us all how to follow our passions with dedication and creativity.

Through all of this, what we will remember most about Masun was his caring nature. He was thoughtful and considerate, always looking out for the well-being of others. He was the kind of person who checked in on his friends, made time for his family, and genuinely cared about the world around him. His spirit, his kindness, and his laughter will forever be with us.

While we grieve his loss, we also celebrate the amazing life Masun led. He showed us how to live with purpose, how to appreciate the small joys, and how to give love freely. His legacy is one of determination, creativity, and, above all, kindness.

Masun, thank you for being a light in our lives. Thank you for showing us what it means to be passionate, loving, and true to ourselves. Though you may no longer be with us physically, your spirit will live on in every person whose life you touched.

Rest in peace, Masun. You will always be loved, remembered, and deeply missed.
