We invite family and friends to gather and celebrate his life, share memories, and offer support to one another during this difficult time.
I am so so sorry that this happened to you. You were always in my thoughts and prayers and may God give you the peace that you deserve. Rest easy Darren, you were cared for.
I remember your smile,
How you shined so bright.
I didn’t see the pain inside,
You hid with all your might.
I know the pain became too much to bear,
I know you tried to see.
But the darkness hid you in a shadow,
As immovable as a tree.
On the day you left,
A piece of my heart went too.
But I bask in each new dawn.
Because now we all live for you.
My memories and love for you “D” will forever be engrained in my heart, mind and spirit. We met by God’s design and not by mistake over 38 years ago when my family took residence next to you and your beautiful family. The first time we met you showed me and my family nothing but love with that big smile and infectious personality. Although our living situation was not equal, you never judged me, nor took the position that you and your family was better than us, you met me right where I was as a friend, a brother, a mentor and gave me inspiration that anything is possible if you just try, try, and try again! You were a protector a leader for me and Winston Fagan no matter what the situation was and you gave us courage to be better than our situation dictated. We played basketball, collected marbles, rode bikes, walked to Copernicus Park and played outside till Ms. Nancy turned on the porch light to come inside. “I love that woman”. As you transition home my brother, just know that you were and will forever be loved by so many people that you touched, were raised with “Tim and Manida”, and raised by strong parents in Ms. Nancy and Father Dave…So take your rest my brother knowing that God’s got you now and that the legacy that you have left will always remember you and honor you , yet never forget you…Love Always..Big Ed
