Effie Girlden (Isaac) Finney was the second child and girl born into the union of Laura Elizabeth (Moten) Isaac and John Henry Isaac. Both parents and her 3 siblings (Scottie, Edmond, and Pierce) preceded her in death. Effie was the proud mother of 4 boys. Her oldest James “Butch” Madearis (Shirley) was born in Texas. Next came Dave and Anthony Roberts (Kelly) and her youngest, Michael Walker (Babbie) were born in California. Her youngest 2 sons also preceded her in death.

Effie learned to love the Lord at an early age. While in Texas her faith was African American Episcopal (AME) and in California she became a faithful member of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC).

Although she was born in Texas, she moved to California in the 1950s to be near her older sister, Scottie (James). Her brother-in-law introduced her to his brother Dave to which her middle 2 sons were born. While in California she resided in the Central Valley until the early 1980s. Her mother was in fragile health, so Effie and her youngest son (Michael) moved to San Antonio, Texas for about 2 decades. After their mother passed at the age of 100 (Effie’s goal was to live at least until 100 years old and she was close). In 2000, she and her younger brother (Edmond) moved to Elk Grove, CA and lived with her niece and family along with their older sister. After her sister and brother both passed away in 2014, she moved to Arizona to live with her son, Dave. However, due to health concerns she returned to her niece’s home in Elk Grove, CA until her peaceful passing.

Effie leaves many to mourn her. 2 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren: Her oldest son, James (Shirley) Madearis their children (Rachel, Johnathan, Isaac, and Naomi) and Johnathan’s daughters (Destiny, Serenity, Jazlyn, and Emma Grace Madearis). Her son Dave Roberts and his daughter Randi (Micah) Phillips and their daughters (Mykah and Malayah). Her son Anthony’s son, Kyle and daughter Kassandra (David) and their children David and Noah. And Michael’s daughter Passion and her sons (Roderick Jr. and Zi’Mire Lamkin). Plus, her nephew Ronald (Naomi) Roberts, their 2 daughters (Rachel and Monica), as well as Monica (DJ)’s children Maliha, Monti, DJ3, And her niece, Renee Roberts and her son and Effie’s devoted caregiver Robert Willis. Also a few lifelong friends Margaret, Kim, Phyllis and other cousins and friends.
