MAURICE LAMAR HARTFIELD

Maurice Lamar Hartfield, son, nephew, cousin, grandson and child of GOD was born into this world on August 13, 1980 to Brenda N. Hartfield from San Antonio, Texas. Maurice was called home on February 5, 2024.

It was said by the Doctors that Maurice would not live beyond his first birthday and would not have the ability to walk. As Maurice began his journey in life, God was always there.

He was so determined to keep up with his cousins he defeated the boundaries Doctor’s said wasn’t possible.

Maurice graduated from Sam Houston High School, attended St. Joseph AME Church in San Antonio, Texas where reverend Marlyn Andrews watched him grow.

As we are all aware, Maurice had challenges with his health. His late Grandma, Pearl S. Hartfield loved him so much that she dedicated her life to assisting her daughter, Brenda N. Hartfield in raising her one and only Son. Grandma Pearl provided him with a loving environment and a safe place to call home until she was called home on December of 2021.

Afterwards his Uncle Edward Hartfield stepped in to fill Grandma Pearl’s shoes. These two shared and an unbreakable bond. Edward was a wonderful caregiver and provided him with lots of love. Maurice and Edward were exactly 20 years and one day apart and loved just sitting back and enjoying the fresh night air. Maurice was known for giving the biggest hugs, shoves and smiles. If you ever visited to the Hartfield’s residence you had to be prepared to wash your car windows and readjust your side mirrors. That was his signature of his love. He also loved to hop in your car and sometimes the only way to get him out of the car was to take him for a ride around the block. Maurice was a blessing. He taught us all humility, kindness, and unconditional love. He was a true blessing to our family. He will truly be missed.

Maurice leaves behind Brenda N. Hartfield, his cherished mother, Edward Hartfield his uncle and caregiver, Lola Lewis and Mary Sheppard his Aunts. Sammy Hartfield, Robert Hartfield and Frank Hartfield his Uncles. Maurice leaves behind a host of many cousins who all loved him dearly. Maurice was preceded in death by Joseph and Pearl Hartfield, his loving grandparents, Uncles Joe B. Hartfield, James (Squirrel) Hartfield, Aunts Belinda Hartfield, Pearl L. Hartfield, Celestine Hartfield, Cousins Monty Runnels and Daija Hartfield.
