Gloria M. Robinson was born April 26, 1936 in Washington, DC. Gloria was raised by her mother, Dorothy in Baltimore, Maryland and spent many summer vacations in Washington, DC with her grandmother and Aunt Willie Mae. She was called to be with the Lord on October 6, 2023 at the age of 87 in San Antonio, Texas.

Gloria began her elementary education in Washington, DC then resumed in Baltimore, MD. During her childhood, she was very active and involved in many areas including Girl Scouts, swimming, and skating. She was also  a cheerleader throughout her high school and college years.

In her early adulthood, Gloria attended Morgan State University, completing some of her core classes where she met her husband Obie Dean Robinson. During her time there, she also worked as a nurses aide at Sinai Hospital. After marriage and relocating to Texas, Gloria returned to college, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from San Antonio College. She was able to graduate from nursing school and fulfill her childhood dream of being a nurse. She worked as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Nix Hospital for 30 years up until her retirement.

While residing in San Antonio, Gloria served faithfully and diligently at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for many years until she was physically unable to attend. During her time as a parishioner, she was heavily involved, some of her capacities that she served on was the Altar Society, Rosary Club, and was the lead singer of the choir for many years. 

Gloria leaves behind her precious memories to be shared through her grandchildren, Chantel Marie Govan, Whitley Robinson, Deanna Robinson, and Raa Sean Kier Robinson, son-in-law Kenneth Govan Jr, and other relatives and many dear close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Wicker, son Obie D. Robinson Jr. (Michael), her husband Obie D. Robinson, and daughter Teresa Maria Govan.

  1. I met Gloria 50 years ago when I was 19. She was my preceptor and mentor in the ICU nursing setting. She was always full of energy and smiling.. She was a social butterfly and loved her family and her dogs. May you rest in peace my friend knowing you are now with Obie, Micheal and Teresa. Condolences to the rest of you family, especially Chantel❤️

  2. Our charge nurse at the Nix Hospital we referred to her as MOM. We will miss her kind heart and work ethics she passed on to us, her work children. Until we meet again, Nothing but smiles in my memories

  3. I had the pleasure of knowing Gloria for more than 20 years and we had so much in common. We were both nurses, sang in our church choir, and were members of the Altar Society.
    She was my friend and I will truly miss her dearly.

    Chantel I’m so sorry for your loss, every time I would visit her she spoke of you and how proud she was of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. You will be missed Gloria. We had 15 good bowling years together. My husband and you everyone thought you hated each other but it was in fun kept every one smiling. Your last 7 years were rough and I prayed you could get relief. I know your happy now being with your family again rest in peace I will always remember all our good times
