NANCY HILL

April 7, 1933 ~ June 17, 2023

The sun rose and the world welcomed Nancy Jane Barker Hill on April 7, 1933. She was born to Marion Barker and Madern Marie McAdoo as one of seven children raised in Athens, TX.

She met and married Albert Hill Sr. and they moved their growing family to San Antonio, TX.  Early on, Nancy was employed at Audie & Joyce Beauty School. There she performed as a stylist and handled a variety of task including accounting.

Nancy was a dedicated wife and tireless worker as a member of Emmanuel AME Church for over 50 years. She served as a Trustee, Member of Building Committee, volunteered and assisted with the Benevolent Committee, Women’s Day Chairperson, and Member of Missionary Society. She was also active in the Eastside community, serving on the Board of Directors for Neighborhood Housing Services.

Having a heart of gold she could always be found with a smile on her face, a great sense of humor and a laugh to share. Nancy had a great love for family and gardening (especially her roses). Cooking was a passion as well. You could ask her about cooking any dish and the recipes would flow in conversation from her head. Another pastime was watching her championship San Antonio Spurs. Her favorite players were David Robinson, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Malik Rose and Manu Ginobili.

Nancy's pride and joy were her children Charles Barker, Pamela Hill (Ricky), Wynell Hill Williams, Albert Hill Jr. (Marcia), Kevin Wayne Hill and Myra Hill Sigler (Gene).

She loved her grandchildren Nina Bright (George), Adrian Comer, April Jenkins, Kristopher Hill, Charles "Alex" Hill, and Kyle Hill dearly.

She also leaves behind five beloved great grandchildren, Adreanna Comer, Breanna Comer, Sterling "Drake" Bright, Adrian Comer Jr. and Paris Comer, one great great-grandchild Avonna Comer, as well a host of nieces and nephews.

Nancy peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 32 years, Albert Hill Sr., siblings James Edmondson, Ida Bush, Alice Edmondson, Irmagene Spann, Oleta Davis, Elbridge Garrett "E.G." Barker, grandsons Kevin Hill II, Collin Hill, and son-in-law Gene Sigler.

Nancy lived a full and warm life which she joyfully celebrated through the age of 90. She will be greatly missed. Her smile and kind heart will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.

It is in mourning that we discover the peace of God that passes understanding. -R.C. Sproul
