DR. LORECE P. WILLIAMS

January 22, 1927 ~ June 1, 2023

Lorece P. Williams passed peacefully from this life the afternoon on June 1, 2023 after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last day of her life.

Lorece & her Husband Nathan Williams are survived by two children, Nick Williams and Natalie Fuller; five grandchildren: Krystal Fuller, Tanicka Mayberry (deceased), Tai Paschall, Haki Williams, Devitra Williams: eight great grandchildren: Nathan Williams, Mya Williams, Sha’Myiah Fuller, Shayla Fuller, Kaleb Paschall, Stori Paschall, Jay Williams and Joy Williams. In addition, a very large amount of nieces and nephews.

Lorece was also the oldest child of six children born in Luling, Texas. Their names are Ora McKinney (deceased), Minnie Bass (deceased), James Corley, Ruth Williams, and Gloria Corley.

Lorece was a Professor of Social Work and taught at Our Lady of the Lake University for 26 years. To know her is to love her. She was smart, witty, had an engaging smile, and was a fiercely independent woman. She was never one to brag about her accomplishments even though she achieved a great deal both personally and professionally. It was not until her final days that she began to appreciate and accept that she indeed was an inspiration to her many friends and family who loved her dearly. It’s this love that make saying goodbye for now, that much harder for all of us. We love you, Dr. Lorece P. Williams

  1. On behalf of the residents and staff of The Village at Incarnate Word, I want to offer our sympathy to Dr. Williams’ family. It was our privilege to have her as a resident in our community for several months. May God grant each of you peace and comfort as you mourn her loss.

  2. It was a pleasure to serve Dr. Williams. She was so friendly to me as a new staff member at The Village at Incarnate Word. May she rest in peace.

  3. I really enjoyed conversations at the dinner table with Dr. Lorece here at the Village at Incarnate Word. She was such an intelligent, fearless, competent, friendly woman. I loved her stories of her time as a young teacher at Katherine Ryan Center at Incarnate Word. I particularly was inspired by her stories of activism and working towards the betterment of society. I can envision her giving her heart over to God and God placing it right in His own Heart!
    Blessings!
    Sister Mary T. Phelan, TVIW

  4. Prayer and Condolences to Mrs. Williams family and friends. I had the pleasure of meeting your love one at the Village at Incarnate Word Retirement Community. She was a lovely lady and I’m grateful to have met her, May your beautiful Angel rest in Peace.
    Doris Singleton.

  5. Lorece taught me life lessons in humanity and in humor . She knew how to teach and to bind wounds. My world will be smaller without her.
