JEANETTE GRADY MATHIS

January 28, 1958 ~ April 24, 2023

Jeanette Grady Mathis, affectionately known as "Nettie, Boo Boo, Lady Bug, Maw Maw", was the third child born to the late Mathis Grady and Vastee Cooper  Grady on January 28, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas.

Jeanette graduated from Fox Tech High School and pursued higher education at San Antonio College. She received Christ at an early age and was a New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church member under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. J. Carlton Allen, where she loved to sing the gospel. She worked at Kelly AFB as the Lead Editor of Technical Orders, where she met the love of her life. Jeanette was united to James Anthony Mathis in holy matrimony on September 30, 1995, and enjoyed 27 years of wedded bliss. Jeanette rejoiced in becoming a bride, second mother, and grandmother all in one day. She moved to Oklahoma to be with her husband and worked as a Case Worker at the Oklahoma Employment Commission.

The Lord continued to guide the family during her disability and illness until her precious life ended on April 24, 2023. Her life memories will be cherished by her devoted and loving spouse, James A. Mathis; attentive daughters, Natisha (Tish) Bailey and Natania (Tiny) Mathis; five grandsons, Isaiah Mathis, Rahmel Bailey, Ahkel Bailey, Joshua Smith, and Jalen Lewis; adorning great-grandchildern, Nehko Mathis and Nova Mathis; one sister Pamela Grady Williams (Michael); one niece Kim one nephew Jehu Bird;  special family members, Diane Webb, and Irene Brackett; best friend Lorraine Broome and a host of relatives and friends.

  1. Sister Jenny you will be missed! Your laughter lit up a room! Her infectious laugh was pure joy! She is loved and I will truly miss her! Her voice as she sung soprano was very distinct and she loved, she lived and her heart was full of love! My memories of our days at NMP and fun times will always be treasured!
