Laura Jelan Keys, 39, returned to her heavenly home on April 8, 2023.
Laura was born to the late Henry and Richardene Keys, in San Antonio, TX on August 8, 1983. Since birth, she was immersed in the Christian community at Willow Park Christian Church that would be her lifelong support. She had many roles, Junior Usher Board President, Primary Sunday School Teacher, Primary Vacation bible schoolteacher, Secretary and Board Chairperson. She graduated from East Central High School in 2001 and St. Mary’s University in 2005 with a degree in Journalism. In 2006 she accepted a position at Accenture as an Instructional Design Specialist, where she remained until her death.
Laura was an animal lover, especially cats and raised half a dozen, her favorite being a sneaky tuxedo cat named Daniel. Even though she worked from home, she did have two lazy coworkers, a Doxie-Poo named Penny and a Schnauzer named Lucy who loved to lay on her lap while she was writing or bark while she was in a virtual meeting. She enjoyed watching K-dramas, going to movies, concerts and comedy shows and trying new restaurants with her sister Dorothy and her sister from another mister Vanessa. A true feminist, she participated in social justice rallies and groups and enjoyed sharing funny political memes with her friends. She might have appeared soft-spoken but was fierce and protective of her family and friends. She always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small.
Laura is survived by his sister, Dorothy; her uncles Hamilton and Rex Saperter, two rambunctious dogs, Lucy and Penny, who love and miss her severely, and a host of family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
I remember your mom us to dress us up alike when we were kids, getting us ready to go to church! Those were the good ole days lil cuz! Words can’t express how much I’m gonna miss you ! If heaven had a phone I would call you just to hear ya voice ! I love you always and forever cuzzo!
I attended Willow Park Christian Church for several years. Laura was always so kind to everyone. She will be greatly missed
My condolences to Mrs. Keys & Family. I used to work with Mrs. Keys & I remember her sharing her stories about her babies all the time. She wanted the best for her girls. I am sadden to have learned that one child has passed on so young in life. I ask that Jesus puts his arms around you & family & helps you through this trying time. God bless you all.
