He was a very giving and caring man, that ask for nothing in return. He was a sounding board, and a listening ear. Roderick always put others needs before his own including his health. He refused to be a burden to anyone. He would say “Daddy taught me how to gain wisdom and character and that a true man takes responsibility for himself and faces the consequences’, Mom taught me how to build the inner strength to survive”. He never forgot a birthday or special occasion. He carried this philosophy until his passing. Roderick Loved to sing since childhood, he was a member of the local singing group “The Tempsensations” where he sang Bass and Baritone winning multiple awards at local and surrounding community events. He was fluent in six languages. He loved his Fraternity “Kappa Alpha PSI” and was inducted at the age of 19 years old. His favorite saying was “All Great Men are not Kappa’s, But All Kappa’s are Great Men”. Roddy my Big Brother, you are and were a Great Man…You will be Greatly missed. T. Lott

You have my deepest prayers & condolences. Roderick Garner was a gift. He & I took a Speech class at Edgar Allen Poe Jr. High School. He gave a speech on the “Future of the World”. He said that we would be eating “steak tablets” in the future. It was funny but it made you think. It was typical Roderick. Blessings.
