Stella V Gonzales was one of nine children born to Cruz Gonzales & Elisa Vasquez Gonzales on September 26, 1955 in Lubbock, Texas.
Stella attended George Peabody Elementary School in Dallas, Anson Jones Junior High School in Bryan Texas and graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas. While in high school Stella was part of the Co-op work program where she was assigned to work with the Department of Defense.
Stella transferred from Defense Contract Management Area Operations (DCMAO) Dallas to Defense Contract Management Area Operations San Antonio as a Computer Assistant in 1992. She transferred to Defense Plant Representative Office (DPRO) Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth in 2003, during the time she worked for (DOD) she attended college courses and obtained her Associates Degree. She retired, after over 30 years, from federal service in 2008.
It was very apparent that her proudest and most joyful moment was the birth of her beautiful daughter Azaria Leigh Gonzales on August 2, 1982. She was a loving and devoted mother who cared for her daughter deeply. Stella was an adventurous woman who loved to travel to various places throughout the US and attend all types of events. All who knew her, knew that she could be quite outspoken at times, but she truly had a big heart and would help anyone in need. She often volunteered with Meals on Wheels when she lived in Dallas. She had a generous love and compassion for the elderly and children and would do over and above to ensure they were provided for. She was creative when she put her mind to it. She could be quite comical at any given moment; you never knew what to expect when you spoke with her and she was also very resourceful for various things that people sometimes wouldn’t expect.
After retiring and before becoming ill, she was able to continue traveling, she especially liked to go back and forth from Dallas and San Antonio visiting friends and family, until she moved to San Antonio, after retiring, for the birth of her beloved granddaughter Aleigha Elise Gonzales on January 16, 2009. Stella adored her granddaughter (her baby) and was not ashamed to let the world know.
Stella was a God fearing woman, she gave her life to Christ while attending Family Life International Ministries, where she was a member for over 10 years.
Stella is preceded in death by both parents, a sister Esther Basaldu and brother Adan Gonzales.
Stella is survived by her daughter Azaria, granddaughter Aleigha, 6 sisters, Elisa Sorrels, Eva Rosas, Henrietta Jimenez, Mary Antillon, Ruth Gonzales and Magdalena (Maggie) & Raul Garcia and a plethora of nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
