Brian Edward Coleman

April 29, 1963 ~ August 15, 2021

On Monday, April 29, 1963, Horace Sr., Mary Louise and Horace Jr. “BoKie” welcomed Brian Edward to the Coleman Family. At an early age, Brian accepted the Lord and Savior at Mt.

Zion First Baptist Church. His love for Christ led him to Greater Love Baptist Church and then True Vision Church where he faithfully served on the Usher Board and as a Decision

Counselor.

Brian attended Herman Hirsch Elementary and Davis Middle School where he began his career as an avid sportsman. He continued on to Sam Houston High School, Home of the

Mighty Cherokees and eventually became a music connoisseur where he graduated with the Class of 1981.

After a short stint at Frito Lay, Brian attended Our Lady of the Lake University and received both his Bachelor and Masters Degrees of Business Administration (MBA). He began his

professional career at Frost Bank then later joined the USAA Family where he served the organization for over 20 years, while being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

With a servant’s heart, Brian freely gave his time for over 30 years as a Little League Football Coach (Apaches), Assistant Basketball Coach for the Covenant Community Church,

and Soccer Coach. His love for football led him to become a certified NCAA TX High School Football Referee. In addition, Brian mentored the youth of the West Side of San Antonio

through USAA’s Mentoring Program.

Of all things, Family always came first. Welcoming Brandon Jerrill sparked the journey of fatherhood and becoming a father gave Brian the most joy. On December 18, 2004 Brian

was united in holy matrimony with Precious Marie Chavis. This union was blessed with Aria Amore (14) and Caden Edward Creed (12).

On April 7, 2006, Brian was initiated into the San Antonio Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In his quest to uphold the ideals and purpose of Achievement, Brian

excelled in every field he endeavored. As a member of the San Antonio Educational Foundation, he served as President and multiple terms as Treasurer overseeing their High

School Scholarships. In addition, he was the Chapter Membership Intake Chairperson and served on Regional Committees.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. A fellow classmate at SHHS, Brian was always quiet, mannerable, and simply a nice person. He went on to marry Precious, an extended part of our Louisiana family. It was so nice to see their union extend to two children, whom they both cherish. Hearing of Brian’s untimely passing is truly heartbreaking, and sooo unfortunate.  Despite all the plans, hopes, and aspirations we seek in this life, there are no answers to circumstances that are not understood. Yet, we have to trust and believe in God’s will, and his ability to heal our grieving hearts. We pray for healing, enduring treasured memories, peace, and strength, to comfort all family and friends graced with the opportunity to experience, and be touched by Brian Edward Coleman.   With Love -Ada, Geraldine & Entire Babino Family

  2. To the Coleman Family:  I am so sorry for your lost and may God be with you all.  Brian is a good guy and a faithful servant of the Lord.  I met Brian in high school and we are lifetime members of the Class of 1981.  Go Cherokess Go! Brian you will be missed by everyone because you are such a good person.  God picked you because he loves you best.  Absent from the body mean to be present with the Lord.  Brian Coleman has reported to duty for the Lord.  RIP Mr. Brian Coleman

  3. Words can’t express how saddened I am to hear about the passing of Mr. Brian Coleman. Brian and I became friends when we both played Tenor Saxophone at Jeff Davis and have been friends since. 5. To the Coleman Family: You guys have our sincere condolences in the Homegoing of Brian.  I remember Brian and Bokie when they were little kids and I knew they would grow up to be productive young men.  GOD bless you and keep you and we are only a phone call away if you need us now or in the future.

  6. I am saddened to hear of Brian’s passing. I had the opportunity to work with him in the accounting department at USAA. He was very reserved and quiet so reading his accomplishments in his legacy statement left a smile. I would have never thought Brian was so involved as he was a humbled teammate. He will be remembered well for his caring and giving nature.

  7. Sending prayers of comfort for the entire Coleman family. Brian had a gentle spirit, and it is evident he was loved by all. May the Lord embrace his family, especially his children. 🙏🏾

    Sincerely,
    Cheryl Roddy
