Margaret Frances McKinney was born in Kerrville, Texas on March 11, 1958 to the late Eddie Lee Stamps, Sr. and Etta Brown Stamps. She was one of five children born to this union. Her brother Eddie Lee Stamps, Jr., precedes her in death. She attended Stephen F. Austin Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Edinburg Jr. High and she graduated from Edinburg High School in 1976. Margaret attended Pan American College in Edinburg. Margaret married Kevin McKinney and this union was blessed with three children.
Tootie as we affectionately called her loved the Lord and was always willing to serve. Tootie had a long career in retail with Walmart, Factory to You, and Anna’s Linen. She was warm and loved hosting holiday dinners. She cooked the best enchiladas. She always decorated her table and her house for every holiday. She loved playing board games with her children. She loved playing dominoes, cards, Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders. She watched Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Price is Right, and Press Your Luck. She promoted Breast Cancer Awareness. Tootie never lost faith and never gave up. She was a true warrior.
Tootie served as a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Edinburg, TX. Upon moving to San Antonio, she joined Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Grant Community AME Church where she served under Pastor William Andrews, and remained faithful until her death.
Tootie was a very loving mother. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Kevin and her three children, Jonathon (Ashona) McKinney, Brittany M. McKinney, and Isaiah (De’Asia) McKinney, grandchildren, Nyla and Cayden, brothers, Arnold B. Stamps, Vernon Davis, sisters, Alene S. Bray, Sandra Jennings. She leaves her Aunt, Annie Walker as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
