Aubrey James Bland was the oldest child of five children born to Dorothy Thelma Wheeler and Arbrie Bland. Both parents and brother Robert "Bobby" Bland preceded him in death.
Aubrey started his walk of faith at an early age attending Corinth Baptist church. Later he attended Mt Zion First Baptist Church. He united with Second Baptist Church in 1998. He was a faithful member until his health began to decline.
Educated in San Antonio Independent School District, he graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School in 1948. He attend St Phillips college and earned an industrial degree.
Aubrey started employment at Randolph Air Force base. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Aubrey retired after 35 years of faithful service at Randolph Air Force Base.
Aubrey was a great BBQ cook and avid sports fan of the Houston Astros and Oilers and also our local San Antonio Spurs. Earlier he was a little league Baseball and football coach.
Aubrey is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Pearlean Green Bland, sons: Robert William Buckley, Roland Wayne (Denise) Bland, daughter Phyllis Ann (Jared) Henderson. Two sisters: Jacqueline (Carl) Johnson, Joyce Bland Callis, one brother Ernest (Betty) Bland, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
