  1. Ruth, our family’s deepest sympathies to yours on the loss of your dear mother.  Mrs Drakeford’s close and enduring friendship with my mother, Sallie Scott, started when you all moved in across the street from us when we were children and continued for decades even after she moved away from H street.  I will always remember your mother’s big smile and deep, warm laughter.  And she gave the BEST hugs.  We are keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers.

  2. Ruth your mother was so sweet and full of joy.  She made a friend with everyone she met. Life well lived! She was always inspiring and uplifting! I thank God I knew her, and I am thankful for the love she continuously gave to myself and my family!

  3. I first met Aunt Betty in 1987 while I was dating her niece and my future wife Robbie. I had met her son Eldrick in 1986 while visiting my alma mater SWT. Little did I know I would become a part of this wonderful family. My children loved Aunt Betty and her late husband Mr Drake ( as they called him). She was like a 2nd grandmother to them, and they couldn’t wait to go see her and Ruthie 😊. When Robbie was battling cancer the 1st time she came to Huntsville to take care of the kids and house. So I could stay at the hospital. When Robbie passed she insisted on coming to Huntsville for the funeral even though it would be taxing on her. I last spoke to her on Thanksgiving day, and we laughed and talked for awhile about my kids and grandchildren. As well as hers. I will hold that conversation closely in my heart. Get your rest Aunt Betty. I know Robbie, her mother, and all of your siblings and parents are definitely in God’s arms. We all have another angle watching over us. RIH I love you, and will definitely miss you 🙏🏾🙏🏾
