MRS. SUDDIE M. JACKSON

On October 31, 2020 the Angel of Peace touched our beloved Suddie Marie Jackson and called her to her “Heavenly Home".

Suddie Marie Chatman was born in Lott, TX on January 23, 1933 to Mr. Chatman and Ms. Emma L Luster. She was the oldest of eleven children. Suddie received her education at A.B. Davis H.S. in Lott, TX. and  Brooker T. Washington in Marlin, TX.

At an early age Suddie accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was a faithful member of Hopeful Baptist Church in Lott, Texas. She developed a love for singing and often sung in the young adult choir.

On December 5, 1950 Suddie married the love of her life Cooley Jackson Jr. and through their love seven beautiful children were born. In 1954 Suddie left her beloved town of Lott, Texas and moved to the big city of San Antonio, Texas.

Suddie being a devoted woman of God united with Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.F.M. Jones in 1958 and remained in her membership until the Lord called her home. Suddie was involved in many church ministries such as the Senior Circle, she was the secretary for the Mission Ministry, a member of Sunday School and was a part of the Finance Ministry. In addition, she was also a member of the Senior Choir where she sung her favorites songs: “ I Trust in God", "God Specializes" and "Lord, I want to be a Christian".

Suddie had a kind soul with a warm heart and a smile that would light up a room. She always had words of encouragement to offer. She was a loving and faithful wife, nurturing mother, affectionate grandmother and dearest friend. As a homemaker she was great at sewing, baking and making what the family would consider the "best jelly" in the world. While enjoying a good cup of coffee she would read her bible and pray daily. Her favorite pastime was watching "The Young and the Restless" and all family members knew not to call her when it was on. Also, Suddie enjoyed watching her favorite teams, the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys.

In 1975, she decided to take off her homemaker apron and pursue her Nurse Aide Certificate at St. Philip's College in San Antonio, TX. After obtaining her nursing certificate Suddie began her nursing career at Southeast Baptist Hospital. During her time there she received the "Courtesy Award" numerous times for her outstanding service and job well done. Suddie retired from Southeast Baptist Hospital after serving almost 20 years.

 She's preceded in death by her husband Cooley Jackson Jr.; her parents Mr. Chatman and Ms. Emma L. Luster- Zeno, a devoted stepfather Archie Zeno, four brothers (Melvin Jenkins, Morris Wayne Jenkins, Mark Bell Jr., Roy Lee Johnson), one sister (Betty L. Knight) and granddaughter Destiny Bridges.

 Suddie leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories two daughters: Pamela A. Jackson, Sherry L Jackson-Moore (Ernest); five sons; Ervin W. Jackson Sr., Eddie D. Jackson (Debra), Gregory N. Jackson Sr. (Yolanda), Cooley Jackson III, Eric D. Jackson (Melinda) all of San Antonio, TX; two sisters; Mary Ann Finley (Jimmy) Fort Worth,

TX and Elizabeth Ruth Burden (Gregory) Grand Prairie, TX; three brothers; Archie L. Zeno Jr. Waco, TX; Johnny R. Zeno and Henry T. Zeno of San Antonio, TX; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one special cousin; Glenda Douglas Fort Worth, TX, special nieces; Claudette Zeno and Vivian Knight and a host of other special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
