SGM(R) Nathan "Bear" Thomas 66 of San Antonio, Tc departed this life on Friday May 10, 2019. He was born December 3, 1952 to Nathan Thomas Sr. & Rebecca Thomas.
Nathan graduated from Springfield Southeast High School in Springfield, IL in 1972, and then joined the Army to serve his country July 18, 1972. Nathan served his country for 25 years, and was a highly decorated soldier earning three Bronze Stars for heroic and meritorious achievements, MSA (1OLC), ARCOM (3OLC), AAM (10OLC), GCMDL (7 Awards), NDSM (2 Awards) SWA Service Medal (3 Bronze Stars), Kuwait Liberation Medal. He retired March 30, 1997. He lived in Germany and worked as a Government Contractor for the Housing Department. Nathan then moved to San Antonio, Tx where he started his own business Thomas Special Services, and was a member of the Bulverde Chamber of Commerce. He also was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Church home he loved and was a faithful member until his death.
Nathan leaves to cherish his memory; his mother Rebecca Thomas of Springfield, IL; his daughter Cynthia Ware of Killeen, TX; son Nathan Thomas lll of Germany; three brothers; David, Ricky and Jerome Thomas and two sisters; Brenda Thomas and Virginia Pursley all Springfield, IL. He also leaves to cherish his memory four grandchildren, one aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his father Nathan Thomas Sr. and one brother Douglas Thomas.
