Vernicia L. Walker-Sheffield (Yaya) was born to Vernon L. Walker and Ella F. Hewitt on January 29, 1960 in Austin, TX. She was the oldest of three children with brothers, Vernon L. Walker, Jr. and Nathaniel Hewitt. She has one other sister, Urie Bailey and two brothers, Gerald Hewitt and Bernard Hewitt.
Vernicia professed her faith in Christ and dedicated her life to serving Him at 12th Street Baptist Church in Austin, TX.
She graduated from South San West Campus.
Her husband Michael Sheffield was the love of her life. They had one son together, Vernon D. Walker Sheffield.
She is survived by her mother, Ella Hewitt, one daughter, Ulisea Ross, three sons: Vernon D. Walker Sheffield, Hosea Hubbard, and Lydezzmond Hubbard. And one life long friend, James Smith. Seven grandchildren: DJ Fuller, Jayden Hubbard, Gorrie Ross, Julian Salinas, Nalyelli Salinas, Apollo Hubbard, and Nori Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her older brother Ellie Hewitt and her beloved dad, Dr. Rev. Ellis L. Hewitt, Jr.
