ABRAHAM B. LEE

Abraham B. Lee passed away on December 3, 2018 at the blessed age of 91 years old.  He was born on December 1, 1927 in Jeanerette, Louisiana to the late Charles and Bernadette Lee Sr. He came to San Antonio while serving in the United States Air Force where he retired after 20 years of service and after completing an additional 20 years of Civil Service at Fort Sam Houston.

He became a member of New Hope Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Robertson over 60 years ago and served as an active member of the Usher Board.  He was a faithful member of his church, the Citywide Brotherhood, and volunteered at community events until he could no longer serve. He loved volunteering as a cook for the homeless and was awarded in appreciation for 23 years of service in the Corinth Baptist Church’s Hot Meal Ministry.

Abraham Lee was a loving and caring father and husband; family was everything to him and he sacrificed everything to ensure his children could have the opportunities he did not. He enjoyed family gatherings where he could cook; and, he was famous for his barbecue ribs and gumbo. He was a hard worker with an unwavering determination.  He was a man of strong faith in God.  Abraham would often say, “You cannot put your trust in man; you can only trust God.” He also loved being outside, working around the house, and took pride in his yard.

Abraham Lee was preceded in death by his father Charles Lee Sr, his mother, Bernadette Vallo Lee, and his seven brothers and sisters Earnest Lee, Irving Lee, Charles Lee Jr, Mary Alice Joseph, Martha Wilson, Shelby Lee, and Joseph Elridge Lee. 

He is survived by his wife Irma Lee of 38 years and their three children Reginald (Jameelah) Lee, Terrance (Virginia) Lee, and LaKeisha (Orlando) Lee; his three daughters Bernadette (Lee) Williams, Regina “Gina” Lee, and Carmen Lee from his first wife Althada; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
