JEREMIAH BROOKS

April 18, 1946 ~ September 29, 2018

Jeremiah ("Jerry") Brooks, 72, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully with his Wife by his side, at the VA Hospital's Community Living Center, San Antonio, on September 29, 2018. 

Jeremiah was born in Bowman, SC, the son of William and Lovevina Brooks. His marriage to Beverly Johnson Brooks, his devoted wife and companion for over 20 years, was filled with love, fun, and commitment. They honored their vows with a loving spirit.

Jeremiah graduated from William Memorial High School in SC, where he was valedictorian of his class. He served in the U.S. Army, including service in the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge and was very proud of his service to his country. He graduated in 1986 from St. Philip’s College in San Antonio. He achieved the professional status of Licensed Vocational Nurse. Jeremiah was a devoted, compassionate nurse, employed by Methodist Hospital and several other medical facilities in the San Antonio region. Being an "old school" man, he believed in working as long as he could. His last employment was at Walmart.

Jeremiah loved sharing his amazing life with family and friends. He enjoyed jazz, old school soul, especially Marvin Gaye. He had a passion for karaoke, performing his rendition of Fats Domino’s Blue Monday and others. Jerry was also fond of fishing with friends and relaxing at home watching Western movies (anybody but John Wayne). Jerry and Beverly enjoyed traveling to casinos.    

Jerry is predeceded by his parents, son Derrick Brooks, brothers William Brooks, Jr., Johnnie Lee Brooks,  Horace Brooks, and sisters Daisy Mae Suggs, Alvina Brown, Annabell Haynes. He is survived by his wife Beverly, children Jeremiah Jr., Kelvin, Denise Brooks, Shawanna Brooks, Jeremy A Boone, Jessica, Joshua A, Jacqueline, Jermaine and Gerald Boone. Special sons Shamar Johnson and Anthony Adams. Brothers James (Pat), David (Mary), Curtis (Janice), Clyde Brooks, sister Ola Brooks. Grandchildren Kiarra Sibley, Treston  Antoine, Samuel Godson, Maya Brielle, Karlee and Emily Boone. Sisters-in-law Cynthia Christian, Helen (Wayne) Johnson. Special friends and family members Curtis and Jackie Brown, William Hobby, Ethel Brooks, Linda Boone, June Manning, and a host of nieces and nephews. Jeremiah loved and was loved by many. He was a man of few words, but the affection he I demonstrated to family and friends spoke for itself.

Survived by his wife Beverly, children Jeremiah,Jr.(wife Patricia Brooks,daughter Pecola Wells-Macon, son Chris Macon) ;Kelvin;Denise (husband Samuel) Gadson,children Samuel  David Gadson, II and Maya Brielle Gadson; Shawanna Brooks Antoine(Johnathan); Jeremy Allan Boone(wife Ana); Jessica Boone Hamilton( husband Benjamin; Joshua Arjel Boone;Jacqueline Boone Smart(husband Logan);Jermaine and Gerald Boone. Special sons are Shamar Johnson and Anthony Adams. Brothers James(Pat);David(Mary); Curtis(Janice); Clyde Brooks and sister Ola Brooks.. Grandchildren Kiarra Sibley, Treston Antoine,Samuel Gadson II, Maya Brielle Gadson,Karlee, Jonathan Antoine, Jr.  and Emily Boone. Sisters-in-law Cynthia Christian and Helen (Wayne) Johnson. Special friends and family members Curtis and Jackie Brown, William Hobby, Ethel Brooks, Linda Jeanette Boone, June Manning and a host of nieces and nephews. Jeremiah loved and was loved by many. Murphy VA Hospital and Community Living Center for their attentive and compassionate care. We know that Jeremiah Brooks is at peace with the Lord and smiling at all of you.

Most memoriable and I want the world to know , is how wonderfully you cared for my sister Dorothy Adams in her last days. Thank you for exercising your God givin talents and gifts caring for helping others. words will never be able to explain the hurt and unbearable pain you helped me and my family to overcome , by showing us that you cared. Thank you for being a wonderful husband to my sister Beverly I know for sure you deeply loved her. sweet spirit rest in peace we have twentytwo years of free sweet memories to cherish they will always remain in ou Hearts till I see you again with our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ

  5. Contious Prayers for the Family and Friends of Mr. Jeremiah Brooks. He is Absent from the body yet present with the Lord.. I pray God will continue to comfort and give you all Peace knowing that Brooks has lived his Life and is now free from sickness.  I thank God for allowing him to be my Friend and the Father of our Daughter Shawanna Antoine and Grandfather of Kiarra, Treston & Johnathan Jr. Which I Love dearly and I will be here for you all always.  I know Jeremiah Loved all of his Family becaus he told me so, and he will be greatly missed.  I’m sorry that you all his Children are having to say see you later to your Father, And Ms Beverly to your Husband.And his Brother & Sister to your brother. I encourage you all to reach back and reflect on  those good memories and hold on to them. Slowly but surely through the tears you will eventually be able to smile.  Weeping may endureth for a night yet joy will come in the morning. Contine to look to Jesus for he will be with you even in your darkest hour. Call unto him and he will answer. He loves and cares for you. God needed another Flower for his Garden and chose to choose one of his Best. Keep the Faith. I Love and care for you all. God Bless all of you and your Familes.
