On February 7, 2018, Deborah Ann Garrison, our beloved “Mother”, “Granny” and “Aunt Ann”, departed this life at the age of 64 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Deborah was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Emmett Garrison Sr. and the daughter of the late Mr. Jim and Mrs. Ruth E. Holmes.
Deborah Holmes Garrison was born on August 1, 1953 in Seguin, Texas where she attended Seguin High School. She moved to San Antonio, Texas to continue her education and receive her Nursing Degree. Deborah was employed by Santa Rosa Hospital for almost 20 years and completed her career with Health Texas Medical Group.
Deborah’s memory will be forever cherished by her children, Emmett Garrison Jr., Melfred (Felicia) Garrison, Webster Garrison, Torland Garrison, Tracy (Anthony) Bradley, LaJuania McFadden, Elise (Gregory) Fox, and the late Elise Garrison and Sean Garrison, Sr. ; Her siblings, Jimmy (Leila) Holmes, Sr., Dorothy, Mildred Jean, Maxine and the late Charlesetta Thomas and Mary Heron. She is the sister-in-law of Louise D. (Elder Sterling) Perkins, Patricia Garrison, Leo (Charlotte) Garrison, Sr., Marva (Alfred) Gibson, Nadrine P. (Rev. Woodrow) Hayden, and the late Wilmer Jr., Lionel Garrison, Sr., Lillian Singleton, and Clara G. Jones; her devoted and attentive nieces and nephews, Roxanne (Roosevelt) Fagan, Eric Thomas, Vincent Nichols (Tijonnaise), Erica Nichols (Taylor), Roshawn Thomas, Zamaria Anderson, Tommy Thomas, Jr., Devon Slaughter, Jimmy (Shikera) Holmes, Jr., Jerome (Lea-Andrae) Holmes, and Lemorn (Mary) Garrison. Andre Woodard (Jazanique), son of Elise Fox, was very close to his Granny who was another mother to him. She loved spending her time loving and caring for her great-grandchildren, Aaniylah Johnson, Kaiden Woodard, Ja’Niyah Woodard, and Amir Woodard.
Her main profession was being a mother to the motherless and a listening ear to anyone who needed counsel. There was never a person who she would not open her home and heart to.
