John Coulter

SSG John Coulter (Ret) was born to Joseph Harrison Coulter and Alice (Summer) Coulter on May 7, 1927 in Orange County, South Carolina. He was affectionately known as Dad, Pa-Pa, Pa-Pa Great, Sarge, Ole' Soldier, Uncle Johnny and "Shoutin' John"!! 

John attended the Public Schools in Orangeburg County and later attended St. Philips College in San Antonio, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army at an early age where he received a number of accommodations. He served his country faithfully for twenty one years. He had a number of jobs during his life and did them all very meticulously. 

John and Jennie Mae Coulter were united in Holy Matrimony on January 17, 1967. Upon his retirement from the Army, the Coulters continued to make their home in San Antonio, Texas. They united with Wheatley Heights Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Eddie Cunningham. Later, the Bethany First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Ronald Benson as pastor, became the place of worship and spiritual guidance for the Coulters. He was passionate about his beliefs and openly shared his love of God and the Church with everyone he encountered. 

Preceding John in death were his parents, four brothers, four sisters, a daughter, Wanda Johnson and a son, Stanley Jackson. 

John will be fondly remembered by his wife, Jennie Mae; Sons: Wilford Don (Debra) Jackson, Lawton, Oklahoma, Ronald Coulter, Clinton, Maryland, Donald (Deborah) Coulter, Albany, Georgia; Andre' (Angela) Coulter, Kissimmee, Florida; Daughters: Rayvon (John) Thompson, Ardmore, Oklahoma; Starla (Jesse) Richardson, Hinesville, Georgia; Felicia Reynolds, San Antonio, Texas; Nineteen Grand-children; Thirty-Six Great Grand-children; Sister: Idella Davenport, Bowman, South Carolina; and ,a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he dearly loved!
